PETITION FOR RECOGNITION AND APPROPRIATION

To:        The Board of             County, Illinois

The Illinois General Assembly has enacted the Military Veterans Assistance Act of the Illinois Compiled Statutes, Chapter 330 Paragraphs 45/0.01 - 45/11, which provides for the organization of a Veterans Assistance Commission in counties having two or more posts or chapters of Veterans Organizations, and

WHEREAS:  The Veterans organizations of        County have formed

a Veterans Assistance Commission for the Purpose of providing and administering assistance to military veterans and their families, and

WHEREAS:  Illinois Compiled Statutes, Chapter 55, Paragraph 5/5-2006, provides for the levy of a tax for the purpose of providing assistance to poor veterans and their families:

THEREFORE, the undersigned Veterans organizations of       County do hereby resolve to have representation of the Veterans Assistance Commission of        County:

FURTHER, the undersigned Veterans organizations resolve to petition the Board of         County to recognize said Veterans Assistance Commission to levy tax and provide the special fund for use as authorized in the above stated statutes.
